Investment Manager

Job Description

First Enterprise is a not-for-profit organisation that addresses economic regeneration by providing loans and business support to SMEs that are unable to raise finance from traditional mainstream sources.


Our government-backed loans and related services help to strengthen enterprises, create employment, and contribute to the economic revitalisation of the communities we serve. Over the past 30 years, we’ve provided over £46m of loans to 3593 businesses, creating 3238 new jobs and helped 1556 entrepreneurs start up their own business.


As part of our ongoing growth strategy, an opportunity has arisen for a Relationship Manager based in our Nottingham office, with travel across the East and Southeast Midlands region.

Main Duties
  • Explain the loan application process in detail and coach applicants on what documents and information they will need to submit

  • Assist clients with developing thorough business plans, financial forecasts, and other supporting documents required as part of the application

  • Analyse applicants' business proposals and plans to conduct due diligence as per company credit policy guidelines

  • Prepare written recommendations and reports on loan applicants for the Credit Assessor to evaluate

  • Follow up with applicants to request any missing documentation and information needed before submitting their full application

  • Developing relationships with prospective small business customers and sourcing new lending opportunities

  • Conducting meetings with potential borrowers to understand their financing needs and promote our lending solutions

  • Preparing and delivering sales presentations to small business owners

  • Overseeing the client onboarding process including loan applications and securing required documentation

  • Managing an ongoing portfolio of small business lending clients, maintaining frequent contact and maximising repeat lending opportunities

  • Finding and nurturing relationships with introducers such as loan brokers who can refer small business clients

  • Attending networking events to connect with the local small business community

  • Signpost customers to relevant external organisations

The role is targeted, and Investment Managers will be expected to achieve a minimum amount of loan approvals per month. A quarterly bonus is paid upon achieving approval targets.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Proven business lending experience

Skills and Abilities:

  • Analysis of business proposals

  • Exceptional organisational and communication skills

  • Capacity to learn quickly and execute accurately

  • Ability to build relationships

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Microsoft Excel

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 24 months
