TriboDENS, an engineering company founded by Dr Mahdi Mohammad Pour provides advanced testing and software solutions that help manufacturers reduce friction and wear in moving parts.

What does your business do?

We provide advanced testing and software solutions to help manufacturers reduce friction and wear in moving parts. This means machines last longer, use less energy, and operate more efficiently, which is a great benefit to industries such as automotive, heavy machinery, and electric vehicles.

How does your business differ from competitors?

We have a variety of bespoke and purpose-built testing rigs, as well as a team of engineers, researchers and scientists, covering all Technology Readiness Levels in the field of dynamics and tribology.

Our current products and services offer a holistic approach that would not be possible only using standard codes, analytical methods or pure experiments.

How is your background related to the business?

I have over 20 years of experience in the study of friction and wear in engineering. I’m a professor at Loughborough University which allows me to develop technologies with wide-ranging applications.

My research has contributed to projects for leading automotive brands and focuses on innovative solutions that improve performance while reducing environmental impact.

What challenges did you face, and how did the loan help?

It was a challenge managing the workload and number of orders being received with limited resources. I was doing the testing while also having to meet with various manufacturers across the globe.

With the loan, I’ve been able to hire staff to support the development of innovative solutions and growing our operations.

Additional comments from the Founder, our Investment Manager, and our Partner British Business Bank

“The finance helped us grow beyond expectations. We’re now forecasting triple-digit growth over the next two years and planning to create more than 10 jobs in the Midlands.

Because our work supports green industries like EVs, this funding also amplifies our environmental impact. It’s enabling us to develop next-generation water-based lubricants that could decarbonise millions of tonnes of lubricants in the near future.

Our Investment Manager, Inderpal, went above and beyond to prepare us for this funding and supported our export-driven model, which now accounts for over 90% of our revenue.” Comments Dr Mahdi Mohammad Pour, Founder and CEO of TriboDENS

“Mahdi’s expertise and vision for sustainable engineering are truly inspiring. TriboDENS is not only driving innovation in friction analysis but also contributing to global decarbonisation efforts. We’re proud to support their growth journey and their mission to make a positive environmental impact.”  Comments Inderpal Singh, Investment Manager at First Enterprise

“We are delighted to see the Midlands Engine Investment Fund II championing research and innovation that works in partnership with the region’s universities. This funding in TriboDENS will not only accelerate the company's growth but also foster both job creation and  product development to help drive sustainability in the manufacturing sector.”   Comments David Tindall, Senior Investment Manager at British Business Bank
