A Touch of Tapping are a Lincolnshire-based business that deliver Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) training. Carol Hudson utilised a £3,000 Start Up Loan to setup the company, attend networking events, and secure contracts with local charities.
Carol discovered EFT in 2016 and was fascinated with the ways it helps to reduce stress and regulate overwhelming emotions. In 2025, she turned her interest into a business reality, helping people access this unique form of treatment.
Years in education helped Carol see the need for better mental health and emotional regulation techniques

Prior to starting A Touch of Tapping, Carol spent many years working in education, primarily in primary and special needs schools. She recognised a gap in the way children were being supported in managing their emotions effectively.
It pushed her to look for potential solutions that she hoped would help reduce negative behaviours and eliminate the need for restraint procedures at the schools, something both staff and students had struggled with in the past.
Her search led her to EFT, or as it’s more commonly known “Tapping”.
Tapping is a simple, non-invasive technique that combines therapy with physical touch through gentle tapping on “energy points” across the body, leading to it sometimes being referred to as “emotional acupuncture”.
It is said to help reduce stress, calm the mind, and can be a great tool for managing anxiety, fear, and overwhelming emotions.
A £3,000 Start Up Loan helped Carol turn her EFT knowledge into a practical business

Carol used her funding to:
Secure additional EFT training, improving her own understanding and qualifications, so she was better able to deliver the therapy
Regularly attend important networking events, increasing her outreach
Continue working with her business coach for an additional year, receiving valuable advice and insights
Secure contracts with charities that support young peoples’ wellbeing.
Carol said of her success in accessing funding with First Enterprise: “Securing the loan gave me access to resources and contracts with charities to help young people who have suffered greatly. I’ve also been able to start setting up EFT programmes for local schools.
“My experience with First Enterprise and my Business Advisor, Mohsin Rizvi, made what was a daunting prospect into a wonderfully supportive process. To be able to talk to a person who could guide and advise me of my best options was invaluable. I am deeply grateful for that guidance and support.”
Mohsin, Carol’s Business Advisor at First Enterprise, was thrilled that Carol received her loan and championed her business, saying: “Carol’s dedication to supporting young people with their mental wellbeing really stood out to me. Her business is a vital support system for local schools and communities, and her passion behind sharing the benefits of EFT through workshops and shared resources will have an everlasting positive impact.
“It was an honour to support A Touch of Tapping through the loan application process, and I wish Carol the best of luck in her business.”
Hopefully Carol will continue to help many more children improve their emotional wellbeing and be better prepared for the mental health challenges of their lives ahead.
